SPICING UP SCRAMBLE MEALS FOR DARING TASTE BUDS

While my own taste buds crave spicy food, I often tone down those flavors for my family now that we have children, and for other Scrambling families, not all of whom enjoy the sensation of a fiery tongue.  But if you like spicier foods, it’s easy to punch up Scramble recipes to your family’s tastes:

  • Fresh and dried chili peppers or hot pepper sauce (such as Tabasco) can be stirred into Latin-influenced meals.
  • For Asian foods, try adding hot curry, chili paste, hot garlic sauce or wasabi powder.
  • Red pepper flakes and black pepper can be sprinkled on Italian noodles and pizza.
  • You can also increase the spices I suggest in any recipe for stronger flavors for your adventurous tastes.

By the way, if you get carried away with the heat and need relief, try drinking milk or tomato juice, eating yogurt, or sucking on a cut lemon or lime.  Drinking water does not actually offer relief!
